Wanting

If dying, I would say…

burn me.

I want an eastern ascent,

clouds of me rising.

Or stretched on a bier

& taken up

by fast disappearing avifauna.

Motes of me winged.

Don’t bury me in the earth

and leave me lying.

And of your continent I will say

I want a frequent ascent.

Let me lap in your seas

and climb your ranges.

Discover hidden forests,

spirited with exotic creatures

and strange grasses.

Find new landings every day.

Ultimately I & U face

An end to Time’s unravelling of self…

The pond frozen at last in winter’s grip…

Bones scattered on some unknown savannah…

And when we do,

will it be relief?
